Frames from the day
Chooda in the morning at her mamaji's house, her mother holding the red and ivory bangles while the aunts argued about the count.
The Anand Karaj opened with Ardaas. We shot from the back, shoes off, heads covered, no flash at any point.
The palla, a saffron scarf passed from his shoulder into her hands, and then the ragis took over.
Four Laavan. She followed him around the Guru Granth Sahib, and by the third one her father had stopped pretending.
Doli at four. Her brothers carried her out and then stood in the driveway not saying anything to each other.
